Create this Thumbprint St. Patrick’s Day Craft
For our Thumbprint Pot of Gold Craft, you will need cardstock in black along with a color for the background. We selected blue and purple, though green or orange would also look lovely and suit the St. Patrick’s Day theme.
You will also need yellow paint, markers in rainbow colors, a glue stick, and scissors.

- Cardstock – black, blue, purple, etc.
- Yellow acrylic paint
- Markers – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple
- Glue stick
- Scissors
Step-by-Step Instructions for the St. Patrick’s Day Thumbprint Craft
Start by selecting the background color. We went with blue and purple, but green or orange would work beautifully as well.
Slice the background cardstock sheet in half.
Next, create a pot shape using the black cardstock. Cut out a circle, then shape it by trimming a wider flat edge at the top and a narrower flat edge at the bottom.
Attach the pot to the card with glue.
Next, place a little yellow paint on a separate surface. A paint palette or paper plate works well for this.
Press a thumb into the yellow paint.
Use the painted thumb to create gold coins spilling out of the pot.
To finish, draw a basic rainbow extending from the pot of gold coins with the markers.
