These aren’t ordinary gnomes. They’re our Handprint Lucky Gnome Craft, a delightful St. Patrick’s Day project featuring a bit of glittery handprint magic for the gnome’s beard!
Gnomes are traditionally associated with good fortune, making them an ideal project for St. Patrick’s Day. I think these gnomes bring a little extra luck. Or perhaps the person who receives one is the lucky one, since it includes those adorable handprints.
Create a St. Patrick’s Day Gnome Craft
To create our Handprint Lucky Gnome Craft, gather white or cream-colored glitter paper, cardstock in green, orange, yellow, and brown, markers for embellishing, scissors, and a glue stick.
A ⅝” circle punch is helpful as well.
Supplies for the Handprint Gnome Craft
- White or cream glitter paper
- Cardstock – dark green, light green, orange, yellow, brown
- Markers
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- ⅝” circle punch (optional)
Step-by-Step Instructions for the Lucky Gnome Handprint Craft
Start by outlining the child’s handprint.
Tracing it on the reverse side of the glitter paper works best.
Carefully cut out the handprint.
Next, divide a sheet of green cardstock in half to create the base. Do the same with another sheet in a different shade of green. We also included orange and yellow cardstock.
Attach the handprint to one of the green cards, placing the fingers toward the bottom.
From one of the green cards, cut a long triangle that is wide enough to cover the handprint.
Punch or cut a small circle from the brown cardstock.
Place the circle in the middle of the handprint and glue it down.
Then, arrange the hat so it covers half of the nose and the remaining portion of the handprint.
To finish, use a green marker to add a few shamrocks to the hat. We also added a basic rainbow to the hat of our yellow gnome.
