Welcome the festive season by creating this charming and simple Clay Pot Snowman! They’re incredibly easy to put together, and children will enjoy helping with the project! They would also make delightful gifts for teachers.

We chose clay pots measuring nearly 3″, though this craft can easily be adjusted for any pot size you have available!
Once completed, these snowmen become the sweetest holiday decorations for tabletops.
Required Supplies
- Small clay pots – one for each snowman, 2.5-3″ across, although a little bigger or smaller is fine
- Paintbrush – medium in size
- Pencil with eraser – for stamping cheeks on the snowman’s face
- Black permanent marker – for adding the eyes and mouth
- Pom poms – two for each snowman, approximately x” in size
- Felt – for crafting the scarf
- Hot glue gun – use with help from an adult

Creating a Clay Pot Snowman
1. Paint the pots.
Using a paintbrush, cover the outside of the clay pot with white paint. Leave it aside until it has dried fully.
If the paint goes on thinly, applying two white coats may be necessary.
2. Create the snowman’s nose.
From orange felt, cut a carrot-style nose measuring roughly 1″ long.
Apply a small amount of hot glue with adult help, or use tacky glue, to attach it at the center of the painted pot.
3. Add the facial details.
Draw two eyes and a small smile on the snowman’s face with a black permanent marker.
For the rosy cheeks, dip the eraser tip of a pencil into pink paint and press one pink circle onto either side of the nose.
4. Craft the earmuffs.
Snip a piece of pipe cleaner to approximately 4″ long, then curve it into a U shape.
With an adult’s help, place a tiny drop of hot glue on both ends of the pipe cleaner. Press one pom pom onto each end and hold them in place until secure.
Again, with adult assistance, put a little hot glue on the pipe cleaner ends where your ears would sit if you wore the earmuffs, then position them on the pot and press firmly.
5. Create the scarf.
Cut the felt into a long strip measuring about 1″ wide by 11″ long.
Using scissors, make small cuts along both scarf ends to create fringe.
With assistance from an adult, use hot glue to fasten the scarf around the pot’s base.
