This galaxy slime recipe is simple to prepare and turns out unbelievably cool! Children will have so much fun creating their own cosmic slime by combining these sparkly slime colors. Plus, every galaxy slime will be unique, just like actual galaxies! Best of all, this recipe requires only 3 ingredients!

Galaxy Slime Recipe
When galaxies come to mind, black is often the first color we imagine, but galaxy pictures reveal brilliant shades of pink, blue and purple. These hues are breathtaking, and this galaxy slime is just as beautiful!
We adore how sparkly every color becomes – and the nicest part is that you won’t have to mix in much additional glitter when using Elmer’s glitter glue!
To create this Galaxy Slime, prepare 4 separate slime batches: one made with black glitter glue, one blue, one pink and one purple.
Each portion comes together quickly – it calls for just 3 ingredients and relies on our most recommended slime activator: contact lens solution.

Ingredients Needed to Make Galaxy Slime
Listed below are the ingredients required for one color (to prepare all 4 colors, you’ll need to collect four times each of the amounts listed below).
- 1 Bottle of Elmer’s Glitter Glue (6 oz). We chose black, blue, purple and pink.Note: We have tested this only with Elmer’s glitter glue and suggest using this brand, since other brands may not perform as effectively.
- 1/4 cup of Water – this helps give the slime a stretchier texture.
How Long Will the Slime Last?
When kept in an airtight container or bag, this slime should remain usable for at least one week. In our experience, it often lasts even longer, provided it is not left exposed to the air when it is not being used. We like storing it in a Ziploc bag because squeezing the air out is simple.
How to Make Galaxy Slime
The black glitter glue slime is our favorite part of this galaxy slime! We mixed in a little extra silver glitter so it would resemble stars. It truly looks like a galaxy filled with faraway stars!
After preparing every color, arrange them side by side so you can twist them together and create your “galaxy”.
Now twist the slimes together to create your galaxy! Isn’t it gorgeous? Keep in mind that the more you knead and play with the slime, the more it will blend into a single color. Still, the glitter glue and added sparkles will keep it looking worthy of a galaxy!
Steps to Make One Color of the Slime
*Repeat these instructions for every color you wish to prepare
1. Choose a bowl in which to combine your slime ingredients.
2. Pour your Bottle of Elmer’s Glitter Glue into the bowl.
3. Mix in 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda until it is completely incorporated.
4. Pour in 1/4 cup of water.
At this point, you may mix in more glitter. We used silver glitter with the black glue slime.
Biodegradable Glitter – As another option, try this chunky biodegradable glitter available from Etsy.
5. Gradually pour in the contact lens solution.
Reminder: For the slime to form, your contact lens solution must include boric acid and sodium borate. Our favorite is this brand. You can also read our guide on How to Make Slime with Contact Solution.
Add a couple of teaspoons of contact solution, then stir the mixture. When the slime begins separating from the bowl, remove it and knead it by hand. It may remain sticky initially, which is perfectly normal. Continue kneading until it improves.
If kneading does not eliminate the stickiness, apply a little baby oil or lotion to your hands. You may also mix in additional contact lens solution if the slime remains sticky. However, avoid using too much, as excess contact lens solution can make the slime firmer and less stretchy.
6. Follow the steps above for every color you plan to create.
After preparing all the colors, combine and twist them together to create galaxy slime.
