This paper snowflake wreath is a simple and enjoyable winter or holiday craft that children can create anytime during the season. They’ll have fun decorating the snowflakes to assemble this wreath with our free printables. You can also print the designs on colored paper and let younger children add decorations to personalize their wreath!

Our paper plate snowflake wreath uses a free printable pattern, one paper plate, and a few simple coloring materials.
Another option is to print the patterns onto colored paper, then cut them out and attach them to a paper plate! You can also use our plain circles so children can create their own snowflake designs.
Add a piece of ribbon for effortless hanging, and this wreath will bring a cheerful seasonal accent to any room!
Supplies You’ll Need
- Coloring supplies – markers, colored pencils, crayons, or even watercolors will work. For younger children, watercolors are my preferred choice.
- Paint – optional for decorating the paper plate
- Snowflake patterns – receive the free printable templates in your email at the end of this post
- Ribbon or twine – optional for displaying the wreath

How to Create a Paper Snowflake Wreath
1. Print the free snowflake printables.
The free printable templates are available at the end of this post (in the form that displays a template preview).
2. Decorate the templates.
To cover the paper plate as pictured, you’ll need to color nine snowflakes. However, you’re welcome to use more or fewer!
Blank versions are included as well, allowing you to create your own snowflake patterns.
For small children, painting the templates with watercolors is a great option. You may also print them on colored paper and decorate them with glitter or sequins.
After coloring everything, trim each circle along the dotted outlines. To keep the dotted marks hidden, cut slightly inside the lines so none remain visible around the finished snowflakes.
3. Remove the middle of a paper plate.
Start by cutting out the center of the paper plate. I find it helpful to gently fold the plate to create an opening, which makes it easier to insert the scissors and remove the middle section.
4. Decorate the paper plate with paint.
Although this step is optional, parts of the plate may remain visible depending on how the snowflakes are positioned. We painted ours blue so it coordinated with the snowflakes.
5. Attach the snowflakes to the paper plate.
Secure nine snowflakes onto the paper plate. If you prefer not to color nine, arrange them farther apart and use fewer pieces.
6. Fasten a ribbon loop to the back for hanging.
Use tape to secure the ribbon on the back so the wreath can be displayed.
