Craft Stick Gingerbread Man Craft

This gingerbread duo looks irresistibly sweet, but please don’t nibble on them! You can still decorate them as if they were ready to eat. Featuring plenty of gingerbread accents and gem gumdrops, this pair is all set for the holiday season.

Our gingerbread pair is not only an entertaining seasonal project to enjoy while anticipating Christmas, but many of the materials can also be found at Dollar Tree. This activity offers practice with shapes, cutting, colors, and counting. The finished creations also make wonderful gift tags, or you can add a loop of twine and turn them into Christmas tree ornaments.

Gingerbread Couple Christmas Craft Stick Craft

For this gingerbread man project, gather jumbo craft sticks, acrylic paint in brown and pink, white craft foam, medium-sized googly eyes, green self-adhesive rhinestones or gems, sponge dabbers, a black marker, ribbon, scissors, and glue and glue dots.

Craft Stick Gingerbread Man Craft Supplies Needed

  • Jumbo craft sticks
  • Acrylic paint – brown, pink
  • White craft foam
  • Medium-sized googly eyes
  • Green rhinestones or gems
  • Sponge Dabbers
  • Black marker
  • Ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Glue dots

Gingerbread Man Craft Step by Step Directions

Collect all of your materials. To make both the Gingerbread Man and Woman, arrange five jumbo craft sticks side by side on your work surface. We glue them together by attaching a piece of cardstock cut to the sticks’ width across the back. Allow the adhesive to set.

Cover the front and edges of the gingerbread pair with brown acrylic paint. Leave them aside until the glue has dried fully.

Place two wiggle eyes on each gingerbread character. Use pink acrylic paint and a sponge dabber to add rosy cheeks. Let the paint dry once more.

Next, cut two basic wavy strips from white craft foam to serve as the gingerbread icing accents.

After that, attach one white craft foam icing strip to the upper and lower sections of each Gingerbread person.

Decorate the wavy icing strips with self-adhesive rhinestones or gems. Without rhinestones or gems, small buttons, pom poms, or even dots of acrylic paint will work just as well.

With a black marker, sketch a wide smile extending from one cheek to the other.

Then, use a piece of ribbon to make two petite bows. Trim any excess tails into a triangular shape with scissors. Cutting the ribbon ends gives the bows a polished appearance and helps keep the ribbon from unraveling.

To complete this charming gingerbread man and woman craft, secure the bow to the top of the Gingerbread Woman and the lower part of the Gingerbread Man using glue or glue dots. They look so deliciously sweet that you may want to gobble them up—but please don’t!
