Cupcake Liner Bat Craft

I may have shared this story before, but it remains one of those unforgettable moments. Several years ago, around 2 in the morning, I woke up to screams coming from upstairs, followed by the quickest footsteps racing down the stairs. A bat had gotten into the boys’ room. We had no clue how it got there. Then, while we were considering what to do, it suddenly vanished. To this day, we still don’t know where it went. Fortunately, this bat craft will bring about nothing but delighted screams.

Simple Cupcake Liner Halloween Bat Craft

To make these cupcake liner bats, gather wooden clothespins, black acrylic paint, a white paint pen, cupcake liners in a variety of colors, plus scissors.

Supplies for the Bat Cupcake Liner Craft

  • Wooden clothespins
  • Black acrylic paint
  • White paint pen
  • Cupcake liners – various colors
  • Scissors

Step-by-Step Bat Craft Instructions

Start by coating the wooden clothespins with black paint.

Allow the paint to fully dry.

As the paint dries, fold one cupcake liner in half, and then fold it in half once more.

Next, beginning at the curved edge along the main fold, cut a V shape. Be careful not to cut completely to the top. Another option is to make a smaller V above the fold and keep the longer V below it. Once again, do not cut all the way through.

After that, trim a zigzag edge along the curved side.

Once the clothespins have dried entirely, draw two tiny white dots for eyes and a W-shaped set of fangs with a white paint pen.

To finish, secure the cupcake liner inside the clothespin. Your adorable and playful Halloween bats are ready! Create additional bats using different colors.
