Craft Stick Love Bug Craft

Has Cupid’s arrow struck you? This charming Craft Stick Love Bug Craft is an ideal little Valentine’s Day present. They aren’t just incredibly adorable—they can also serve as wonderful bookmarks once you finish swooping them around.

One of my favorite easy craft techniques is covering the craft base with yarn. Honestly, I’d wrap myself in yarn if possible. I adore the colors and texture, and it’s much simpler than painting. It also gives those tiny fingers a useful workout.

To create our Craft Stick Love Bug Craft, you will need jumbo craft sticks, multi-color yarn, shiny pipe cleaners, small googly eyes, glue dots, a black pen, and scissors.

Supplies for the Craft Stick Love Bug

  • Jumbo craft sticks
  • Yarn in multiple colors
  • Shiny pipe cleaners – assorted colors
  • Small googly eyes
  • Black pen
  • Glue dots
  • Scissors

Step-by-Step Love Bug Craft Instructions

Snip a long, shiny pipe cleaner into two pieces.

Shape one end into a circle, leaving a tail. Twist it to hold it in place.

Press the center of the circle inward and pinch it to create a heart.

Next, attach the hearts to the back of a jumbo craft stick with a glue dot. Then, start winding a strand of yarn around the craft stick. Be sure to wrap around the pipe cleaners as well so they are held securely.

Keep winding until the entire stick is covered.

Afterward, fasten the yarn’s end behind the craft stick. There are several ways to do this. We slipped the yarn beneath a loop that was already wrapped and tied it securely. Alternatively, you could use tape or an additional glue dot.

Then, attach the googly eyes.

Grab another shiny pipe cleaner. You’ll only need approximately one-quarter of it. Fold it into a V shape, then use a glue dot to attach it to the upper back of the craft stick.

To finish, sketch a simple smile with a black pen.

Adorable, isn’t it?! This is such a delightful little Valentine’s Day craft!
