If you are searching for a free Penguin Crochet Pattern that can also be transformed into a Penguin Christmas ornament, this adorable little design is perfect for you. And the best part? It costs nothing! So join us for this delightful winter craft and try making this sweet Amigurumi penguin ornament today!

One of the best features of this simple Penguin Crochet Pattern is that you can easily “scale it up” or down according to the wool or yarn you choose and the hook size you use. We created two while developing the pattern, and, as you can see, their finished sizes vary.

We also had some friends who were new to crochet test the pattern, and their penguins came out bigger than ours too – actually, they were the ideal size to turn into crochet penguin ornaments for the Christmas Tree!

Crochet beginners often work with larger hooks, which can make the loops slightly looser! That makes this a perfect design for converting into a crochet Christmas ornament!

Materials required for this Penguin Ornament

  • crochet cotton yarn in your preferred colors (we chose white yarn for the tummy and blue and purple for the body, along with small pieces of yellow and black for the beak and eyes)
  • 2.5 crochet hook
  • yarn needle for weaving in long ends
  • scissors

You may also choose different crochet hook sizes to create penguins in various dimensions! This is especially useful if you plan to use the design as a crochet ornament.
