Our Halloween Slime was such a hit and became a very popular craft, so we had to create a Christmas version as well! Best of all, this activity is simple to do. It follows our 3 ingredient slime recipe. You won’t have to worry about failed slime with this method!
Here are our 3 Christmas Slime Jars, and we’ll guide you through making each one.
To begin, there’s our Rudolph slime jar – that vivid red nose is sure to cheer someone up! Brown slime may not sound very exciting, but children will have a great time playing with it!
Then we have our snowman slime jar – this is our top pick (though it may be tied with Rudolph; we really can’t choose!). The nicest thing about this slime is its white color – there’s no need for dye or specially colored glue!
Our final jar is the Grinch slime jar.
Let’s go over the instructions for creating this Christmas slime!
Supplies Needed
Repeat each item below for every color (you’ll need to prepare 1 batch per color)
For each batch/jar:
- 1 bottle of Elmer’s glue (6 oz) – we used white (2 bottles) and glitter greenand made the recipe 3 times. Note: this recipe was prepared with Elmer’s glue. We advise against replacing it with another type of glue because its composition may differ and the slime may not turn out properly (particularly Dollar store glue, which many people say causes issues).
- Brown food coloring for the Rudolph slime jar. Mix it into the glue before proceeding with the slime recipe instructions.
- 1/2 TSP of Baking Soda
- 1½ TBSP of Contact lens solution.**Important:the contact lens solution you choose must list boric acid among its ingredients. This ingredient combines with the glue and creates the slime.
- 1/4 cup of water

How to Make Christmas Slime
1. Choose a bowl for combining your slime ingredients.
2. Pour the bottle of glue into the bowl.
To use clear glue instead, add green food coloring to the clear glue.
3. Measure 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda into the bowl, then stir.
4. Pour in 1/4 cup of water and combine.
5. Gradually pour in the contact lens solution until the mixture begins separating from the bowl.
Begin with 1.5 tablespoons, then stir well.
When the slime begins coming away from the bowl, remove it and work it with your hands. At this stage, it will remain quite sticky, which is completely normal. Continue kneading it for 5 minutes. As you knead longer, the stickiness should decrease. Keep working the slime until it reaches a smooth consistency.
Important: the contact lens solution you use must include boric acid and sodium borate, otherwise the slime will not set.
If the slime remains excessively sticky after you knead it for 5 minutes, try applying a little baby oil or lotion to your hands beforehand. This helps prevent you from over-activating the slime.
When you’ve followed all the suggestions above but the slime is still too sticky, you may add another 1/2 tablespoon of contact lens solution. Pour it in gradually, using an additional teaspoon at a time, and keep kneading until the slime reaches your preferred texture.
How to Create the Christmas Slime Jar Faces
- For the Rudolph Jar: Attach the googly eyes and red pom pom with glue. To create the antlers, wrap one pipe cleaner around the jar rim. Snip two shorter pipe cleaner sections, then secure them around the two ends.
- Brown food coloring is needed to turn the glue brown for this slime.
- For the Snowman Jar: Attach the googly eyes, orange felt nose, and small black button mouth with glue!
- For the Grinch Jar: Glue on the googly eyes, then draw the face with a black sharpie. Trim a piece of red felt so it matches the jar lid, and use hot glue to attach it to the lid (adults only).
Give these away as presents, or let the kids enjoy playing with their Christmas slime! They would be great additions to a Christmas party too. When finished, close the jars securely for safe storage and keeping.

If the slime is still too sticky after 5 minutes of kneading, try putting a little baby oil or lotion on your hands first. This can help ensure that you do not over-activate the slime.
