Creating paper snowflakes is an ideal winter craft for a chilly day inside. All you need is some paper and these snowflake patterns to create them! The designs are optional – you can sketch your own as well!

We adore the bright snowflakes you can create with colored paper. The larger the sheet you use – the larger your snowflake can become! So if you can locate thin, oversized colored paper, you can make even larger snowflakes than these.

What type of paper should I use?
To cut the snowflakes without difficulty, you should use only standard paper. Any thick material similar to cardstock will be very difficult to cut.
We used this paper set.
For especially large snowflakes, you may use easel paper and use the same directions.
How to Cut Out the Snowflake Template
1. Begin by printing the templates below.
Or trace along and create your own.
Next, cut out the square section of the template.
2. Fold the template once along the diagonal line.
3. Fold it diagonally once more, keeping the section with the design visible.
4. Fold both side sections behind the triangle containing the design. Then cut away the top.
5. Now cut out the design!
