Our Galaxy Dad Card for Father’s Day is a wonderfully fun project for the coolest dad in the universe, featuring a sparkling star effect created with a paint-splattering method. And honestly, whenever paint splattering is involved, you know it’s going to be enjoyable.
We’ve also added a Free Printable Galaxy Dad Card Template. Just cut out the DAD letters, then trace them onto black cardstock. We chose several vivid shades for the large stars and added a thoughtful Father’s Day greeting inside the card.

Supplies for Making a Father’s Day Galaxy Card
- Galaxy Dad Template
- Cardstock – black, yellow, or your preferred color
- White acrylic paint
- 2 paint brushes
- White pen or marker
- Scissors
- Glue stick
Step-by-Step Directions for the Dad Galaxy Card
Start by printing the template. Carefully trim out each DAD letter along the black outlines.
Next, fold a piece of thick black cardstock in half. Set the first D along the left side, with the top of the letter touching the fold, and outline it using a white pen. Place the A directly beside the D and repeat the process. The letters should connect together like puzzle pieces. Repeat these steps for the last D.
Trim away the excess cardstock around DAD, keeping the word and fold attached.
After that, load a brush with plenty of white paint.
With a second brush, tap and flick the paintbrush to create a playful splatter design. Large drops and lines are completely fine—they help create the look of a sparkling galaxy.
Next, outline the stars onto the colored cardstock you selected. Cut each one out.
Attach the large stars to the middle of the Ds and place the smaller star inside the A.
To finish, add your Happy Father’s Day greeting to the inside of the card. We enjoy writing, “You’re the best Dad in the galaxy!” Another cheerful option is, “You’re out of this world, Dad!”.
